Seoul, Samsung Electronics made two sides LCD panel for cellular phone screen. This is the first cellular phone LCD which could displaying two different pictures that seen from different side.
This Samsung two sides LCD could displaying two different pictures that could be seen simultaneously in front and behind the screen. The other LCD two sides usually only could display the opposite picture if seen from the contradictory side.
This newest technology could replace the two screen display requirement, so as to be able to reduce the thickness of cellular phone at least as big as 1 mm. Yun Jin-hyuk, Executive Vice President Mobile Display Division, Samsung Electronics LCD Business said, Samsung will begin the mass production of two sides LCD in the first semester 2007.
“This two sides screen is the Samsung commitment to satisfy the consumer requirement of display screen technology that more sophisticated, in order to bring the thinner cellular phone” said Yun Jin-hyuk.
This Samsung two sides LCD made use of double-gate architecture, Samsung newest thin-film transistor (TFT). This architecture enabled each pixel on the picture to operated used two gate, so as the front of screen could display the picture that different to the rear.
