Tokyo, five foremost hard disk producers joint to make hybrid hard disk. The results is same as married hard disk with flash memory.
Hybrid hard disk will have flash memory which worked like buffer between computer system and hard disk. This memory used for short-term storage “from and to” hard disk. Therefore the work load of hard disk will decrease so as to save the power consumption. Hybrid also talked could speed up the achievement of computer because of read-write in flash faster than read-write in hard disk.
Fujitsu, Hitachi, Seagate, Samsung, and Toshiba agreed to form Hybrid Storage Alliance. The target is to made hybrid hard disk technology which plan will enter the market in the first quarter 2007.
This hybrid technology was developed by Microsoft and will be enclosed in the Windows Vista operation system. This hybrid technology also designed to eliminate delay time when the computer store and take the data from hard disk.
This hybrid technology not without the rival. Robson, a technology made by Intel, gave the profit that same as placed cache based on flash in the computer. This system will be used in the newest laptop that began to enter the market in the second quarter 2007.
“Robson had the profit could work by various available hard disk. But, needed new card interface to use it” said Marc Noblitt, Senior Interface Market Development Manager Seagate.
