Nvidia ready to launching nForce 600 series at mid of November. Nvidia nForce 600 series covering nForce 680i SLI, nForce 650i SLI and nForce 650i Ultra, all of this in Intel land-grid-array 775 socket.
The top series is Nvidia nForce 680i SLI MCP. This Chipset will replace nForce 590 SLI Intel released on June 2006. This is because of nForce 590 SLI Intel have problem with FSB above 1066 MHz.
ATI was launched ATI RV570 Radeon X1950 Pro graphic card for the middle class with the price about 199 USD. The next product that will be joint with 80 nm is ATI RV560 X1650XT graphic card.
ATI RV560 Radeon X1650XT have the core speed 575 MHz, faster from the previous 475 MHz. It seems that ATI successful with the transition to 80 nm, although the launching schedule of X1650 XT must be postponed from August to early November 2006. For the memory that will be used is 256 MB GDDR3 with the speed 675 MHz and 128 bit memory interface. The features like 24 pixel-shaders, 12 pipelines and 8 vertex shaders. Similar with Radeon X1950 Pro, ATI RV560 Radeon X1650XT also will be equipped with the internal connection for CrossFire feature.
In an effort to reduce the cost, Intel will launch Conroe native 2MB L2 Conroe at February 2007. The mobile Merom processor will also have the native 2MB L2 cache version at the time of the Santa Rosa launching. This change will give Intel better position in facing of AMD 65 nm.
Intel Core 2 Duo and Xeon 3000 that available at this time, in fact the native 4MB L2 cache processor. Although having the 2 MB version, but in fact only the 4 MB version with 2 MB disable. The other side, AMD produced the K8 native 1MB L2 cache processor and 512KB L2 cache.
ATI will produce the 45 nm graphic card in TSMC during 2008. It was unclear that the product whether that will become the transition to the process of the 45 nm manufacture but can be heard that the possibility will be used to produce ATI RD790.
At the beginning of 2006, TSMC released the process details of 45 nm production and the difficulties that was dealt with the contraction. By chance also that in 2008, AMD will also change to 45 nm, although possibility Intelligence will reach 45 nm before during 2007.
ATI has reported that the transition to the 80 nm process did not give the damaging impact for his production and will shift all of his product to 80 nm to H1 2007.
ATI at this time most produced with the 90 nm process. One of the profits changed to 80 nm was to be able to unload the production cost about 10-15%. This decline was caused because more chip that could be produced from 300mm wafer and there is no failed product.
NVIDIA give G80 graphic card to the reviewer without provided the driver. In the reality the reason is G80 still has many problem, some will be repair before launched to user but there are some problem which is difficult to be repaired.
The SLI Problem, will repair with driver to be released on 25 October 2006. This serious SLI problem where the crash will happened almost every time so imposible to used the system.
