After integrated Maxtor Corp., Seagate Technology began to launched new Mobile Max 2.5 inch and DiamondMax harddisk to show the role from Seagate and and Maxtor.
The newest DiamondMax launched with 320Gb capacity, MobileMax in the 80Gb capacity. The DiamondMax capacity only half of Seagate Barracuda capacity that has reached 750Gb. Seagate will be aimed for the high end class that needed high capacity and high speed. Whereas Maxtor aimed for them who cared about the price.
The other difference, maximal Maxtor cache memory is 8MB, whereas Seagate 16MB. Seagate offered tolerance for the higher jolt “G” (gravity).
Seagate gave 5 years guarantee, Maxtor gave 3 years. Not anyone needed the guarantee up until 5 years because increasing the height of the selling price. Said by Steve Ichinaga, senior Vice President and General Manager for system integration system on Synnex distributor, that very happy with this change.
Synnex that sold both of Seagate and Maxtor took part in being benefitted with the available change at this time became clear that if the person searched the premium harddisk, that is Seagate. If looking for value, that is Maxtor.
